Pre-trip camping trip in Ricketts Glen State Park, PA
On October 13th (Friday the 13th!), my classmates and I loaded our gear into the vans and headed out to Ricketts Glen State Park. The drive took six hours and when we got there, it was foggy, cold, and slightly raining. Setting up tents and making a fire for dinner were both challenges that we got through as a team. On Saturday (10/14) we took a nine mile hike and got to see 21 beautiful waterfalls and even had our lunch at the top of one! We had a class meeting at the amphitheater that was less than a mile from our campsite where we discussed project topics and picked our partners. Making the fire for dinner that night was easier as we had just cloudy skies all day but a lot of our burritos got burnt. After dinner and making s'mores, I got to bond with my classmates around the campfire by asking a bunch of questions and just overall getting to know who they are! We were all sad to leave on Sunday morning since we had such a great day on Saturday. Although we had a few hiccups (cold, rainy, burnt dinners, and one lost GoPro), the trip was amazing and it just got me even more excited for January. I can't wait to spend two weeks with these awesome people and get to make even more unforgettable memories with them!
*Update: The GoPro was found and is being mailed back to the person who lost it!
**Note: The pictures of all of us (around the fire, at the falls, before the hike, and at our meeting) along with the maps were Professor Tait's that he posted on Facebook and allowed us to use. All the rest are pictures that either myself or my tent buddy (Lori) took.
